Addressing Humanitarian Challenges Through Training for the Future

Jakarta, January 17, 2025—The challenges in humanitarian programs are becoming increasingly complex. Therefore, humanitarian workers must be able to adapt to the evolving landscape of the humanitarian sector. As the secretariat of the Indonesian Humanitarian Development Alliance (AP-KI), Human Initiative organized a humanitarian training program titled “The Future of Aid 2040: Transformation Pathway.” This initiative was a collaboration with the Inter-Agency Research and Analysis Network (IARAN) and was supported by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN-OCHA). The training took place at the United Nations Building in Jakarta.

Humanitarian practitioners from various sectors participated in the training, including local organizations, international agencies, donor institutions, and representatives from United Nations bodies. The program aimed to enhance their capacity to anticipate and adapt to changes in the humanitarian sector, ensuring they are well-prepared to navigate the future of humanitarian aid in 2040.

Collaboration in Facing Future Challenges

As humanitarian needs evolve, organizations must establish strong and sustainable partnerships to build resilient aid systems. The collaboration with IARAN and UN-OCHA provided a platform for humanitarian institutions to discuss strategic and adaptive approaches to tackling future humanitarian challenges. Through this initiative, Indonesia’s humanitarian organizations are expected to strengthen their readiness in addressing potential crises in the years to come.

The Future of Aid 2040: Transformation Pathway training serves as a pathway for humanitarian organizations to enhance their capacity and sustain their contributions effectively in the future.
