Aid for Flood Affected People in Pakistan

Monday (26/9), Indonesia sent aid for flood-affected communities in Pakistan. The aid was despatched from Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport by Garuda Indonesia airline. The aid was officially released by President Joko Widodo who was present with a number of officials.

Human Initiative volunteers are currently on a flight to Pakistan to support and oversee the distribution of humanitarian aid to Pakistan representing elements of civil society. The humanitarian assistance of the Indonesian people for Pakistan is a form of collaboration between the Charity Solidarity Movement (GSK) with the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, BNPB, Indonesian Humanitarian Alliance (IHA), the Indonesian Humanitarian Forum Alliance (HFI) and the Zakat Forum (FOZ). All of the aids will be sent to people in Karachi, Pakistan, who have been affected by floods since late August 2022.

“As part of the Indonesian nation, HI, which is a member of HFI, supports the Indonesian government in escorting humanitarian aid to Pakistan. It is in line with our sympathy with the disaster affecting the people there, which so far has claimed more than 1600 lives and affected about 33 million people. The Indonesian people, who often face the challenges of natural disasters, understand very well the difficulties faced by the affected communities, so the Pakistani government conveys the need for global assistance to be able to immediately deal with the disasters they experience.. “explained Andjar Radite, Vice President Operations Human Initiative.

“Therefore, the assistance from various organizations in Indonesia entrusted with the assistance of the Government of Indonesia is expected to reach those in need and can optimally benefit the efforts of the Pakistani government in dealing with this flood disaster,” he added.

The Indonesian government itself has sent aid funds of approximately USD 1 million for flood-affected communities in Pakistan. In addition, the Government also collectively sent assistance from various parties including NGOs in Indonesia.
