BIS Mangrove Program: Human Initiative’s Collaboration with Pertamina Patra Niaga FT Medan Group Empowers Community Creativity

Medan, North Sumatra – Human Initiative, together with the kindness of Pertamina Patra Niaga FT Medan Group, inaugurated the Beautiful Seedlings Center (BIS) Mangrove program in Nelayan Indah Subdistrict, Medan Labuhan District (August 26th). The activities included tilapia fish seed sowing, mangrove sapling planting, and the symbolic delivery of assistance from Pertamina Patra Niaga FT Medan Group to the Mawar Lestari Group.

Deden Suhermat, Manager of Pertamina Patra Niaga FT Medan Group, revealed that the implementation of the BIS Mangrove program holds noble objectives. Among these goals is Pertamina Patra Niaga FT Medan Group’s intention to advance the community through empowerment in Nelayan Indah Subdistrict, particularly among residents of Block GG Lingkungan VII.

“Besides enhancing creativity, in the future, this program will increase income for residents if it succeeds,” said Deden.

Furthermore, he mentioned that the BIS Mangrove program can succeed as planned if local stakeholders provide support. These stakeholders include the Seklur (Subdistrict Secretary), Babinsa (Village Military Officer), and Bhabinkamtibmas (Community Police Officer).

After the inauguration of the BIS Mangrove program, the residents invited everyone to participate in a public celebration. On the same day, residents of Block GG Lingkungan VII organized a public celebration in commemoration of Indonesia’s 78th Independence Day.

The residents of Block GG Lingkungan VII arranged a series of activities for the public celebration, including tug-of-war competitions for men and women. The greased pole climbing contest, involving all segments of the community, became the most lively competition of the event.
