Improving the Quality of Brown Sugar and Honey Products through the Empowerment of Small and Medium Enterprises

Cindakko, Thursday 26/12/2019- Human Initiative in collaboration with MTT Foundation held training for Small and Medium Enterprises to develop the production of processed products namely brown sugar and honey at the Cindakko Village on December the 26th 2019. The training was also held in cooperation with the Maros Industry Office. The training of the small and medium enterprises at the Cindakko Village was aimed at improving the production of brown sugar and Cindakko honey. The training was attended by Mr. Hamzah who represented Maros Industry Office.

The training took place at the Training Center of the MTT Foundation Small and Medium Enterprises at the Cindakko Village. At least, 20 honey and brown sugar farmers took part in the event.

Mr. Hamzah as the instructor in the training conveyed about the importance of developing the potential of natural resources in Cindakko such as honey and brown sugar in a bid to empower the small and medium enterprises in the region. He also explained about the importance of production management. If the people in Cindakko can manage the potentials of their region properly, the welfare of Cindakko people will improve. Cindakko is famous for its brown sugar and honey.

On the occasion, Mr. Sulaiman who acts as Chief of the Village as well as Head of the Cindakko Small and Medium Enterprises thanked the committee for conducting the training. He hoped that by joining the training, the people of
Cindakko could utilize the potentials of their region properly and manage the brown sugar and honey in accordance with the standard in a bid to increase their welfare.

Cindakko is part of Bontosomba Village. It is located in Tompo Subdistrict, Maros Regency, South Sulawesi. It takes 2 hours and 30 minutes to get to the village. The Cindakko Village has not been developed properly due to its isolated location. For example, the welfare of the Cindakko people is still low.

Moreover, the Cindakko people also have low education rate. Therefore, Human Initiative in collaboration with MTT Telkomsel held such training as part of the Industrial Village Development Program in a bid to improve the welfare of the Cindakko people and boost their economy.
