Budi Luhur University Students Explore Humanitarian and Disaster Studies at Human Initiative

Human Initiative welcomed a study excursion from Budi Luhur University students on 17 November 2025 at the Initiative Building in Depok. The activity was attended by students from the 2024 International Relations program and the 2025 Disaster Management program. This visit provided a direct learning experience on humanitarian work and the evolving landscape of disaster-related issues in Indonesia.

During the discussion session, Eson Jumarsono and Egi Gustiana Putra explained how Human Initiative carries out humanitarian work across all phases of a disaster. They outlined preventive efforts before a disaster, rapid response during emergencies, and continued support for communities throughout the recovery period. Their explanation highlighted that effective disaster management requires clear strategies, strong coordination, and long-term commitment. Students followed the session attentively and showed great interest in understanding field operations, including how teams design sustainable programs for affected communities.

The activity was accompanied by lecturers from Budi Luhur University, including Dr. Didik Hariyadi Raharjo, M.Pd, Head of the Disaster Management Program, as well as Fathin Aulia Rahman, M.Sc; Taqwa Putra Budi Purnomo, S.H., M.M.; and Agung Permadi, S.IP., M.Si. The lecturers noted that the visit offered valuable hands-on learning, allowing students to understand how disaster-management theory is applied in everyday humanitarian work.

Human Initiative sees collaboration with educational institutions as an important step toward nurturing early awareness and compassion. This engagement also strengthens the hope that more young people will become involved in humanitarian action, whether as volunteers, researchers, or program innovators.
