Disaster Preparedness Day Assembly: Human Initiative Strengthens Readiness for More Coordinated Disaster Response

Depok, 27 April 2026 — Human Initiative held a Disaster Preparedness Day (HKB) Assembly involving humanitarian workers from its headquarters and regional offices. The activity aligned collective steps, strengthened preparedness, and ensured that every individual understood their role during emergency situations.

Disaster Preparedness Day, commemorated every 26 April, aims to encourage public awareness and readiness in facing disasters. The observance is connected to the enactment of Law Number 24 of 2007 on Disaster Management and has been officially commemorated since 2017. Its implementation includes activities such as independent evacuation drills, disaster simulations, and public education campaigns so preparedness becomes part of everyday habits.

At the same time, the assembly reflected Human Initiative’s commitment to building preparedness as part of daily life. Human Initiative not only emphasized procedures, but also encouraged attitudes rooted in discipline, compassion, and responsibility.

During the event, Human Initiative President Tomy Hendrajati delivered three main priorities. First, all humanitarian workers should participate in preparedness training so they have the necessary skills during emergencies. Second, every individual should prepare a personal disaster preparedness bag as part of personal readiness. Third, every humanitarian worker should become a preparedness advocate within their closest environment and community.

He also emphasized, “This assembly is not merely ceremonial, but a reminder that preparedness is an important part of life, especially for those of us living in Indonesia. Because of that, I invite all humanitarian workers at Human Initiative not to see this as a ceremony alone, but as encouragement to continue preparing ourselves.”

On the other hand, preparedness does not appear instantly. Instead, it grows from habits practiced consistently over time. Human Initiative therefore continues encouraging preparedness values to become part of daily activities so responses can be carried out more quickly and effectively.

Furthermore, solidarity makes every step feel lighter and more directed. By moving together, teams can build stronger coordination while also strengthening trust among one another.
