Empowerment Program: HI Collaboration with Forest Farmer Group of Bonto Manurung Village

Maros, October 30, 2024 – In an effort to improve rural community welfare through an empowerment program focused on integrated agriculture, the Forest Farmer Group of Bonto Manurung Village in Tompobulu District, Maros Regency, held the launching event for the Integrated Agricultural Community Empowerment Program on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.

The event was attended by Mustafa, Assistant Manager of HR and General Affairs at PT PLN Indonesia Power UBP Tello; Agustam, S.IP, M.Si, Head of the Department of Cooperatives, Industry, and Trade of Maros Regency; Nurhayani, a representative from Human Initiative South Sulawesi; Darman, a representative of Tompobulu Subdistrict; Rizal from KPH Bulusaraung; as well as local community leaders and members of the Ujung Bulu Bonto Manurung Forest Farmer Group.

This program is designed as a holistic solution encompassing training, mentoring, and resource support for local farmers. It aims to enhance farmers’ capacity and skills in managing agricultural land and produce. Through this initiative, a sustainable and competitive integrated agricultural model is expected to emerge, contributing to the village’s economy and the welfare of its residents.

In his opening remarks, Mustafa expressed hope that the program would bring positive changes to the residents of Bonto Manurung Village and the surrounding areas. “We hope this program will have a significant impact on community welfare, not only in economic terms but also in preserving the environment,” he said.

Agustam, S.IP, M.Si, Head of the Department of Cooperatives, Industry, and Trade, emphasized the importance of collaboration between local government, the community, and private sector partners in ensuring the program’s success. He commended the initiative taken by the Forest Farmer Group of Bonto Manurung Village in building an independent and competitive village.

This empowerment program is expected to serve as a model for other villages in Maros Regency, marking the beginning of a significant step toward food security and improved welfare for communities in forest and remote village areas. The program exemplifies the potential of collaborative efforts in creating sustainable development and empowering rural communities.
