From Remote Aceh to Java: Five Baitul Qur’an Students Graduate with Honors

The journey of five students from Aceh illustrates how courage, parental prayers, and persistent learning can open the path to success. From their remote hometowns in the western tip of Indonesia, they pursued education far from home and eventually stood on the graduation stage as outstanding graduates. They are Ahwin from Subulussalam, Fadil from Simeulue, Arju from Labuhan Haji, Alhadi from North Aceh, and Nofri from Simeulue.

Before moving to Java, they studied at Baitul Qur’an, Aceh Besar. Managed by Human Initiative, Baitul Qur’an provides a learning environment combining Qur’an memorization, classical Islamic studies, formal schooling, extracurricular activities, and entrepreneurship. This environment nurtures discipline, independence, and the courage to take bold steps.

After graduating from high school in 2021, they consulted with teachers and mentors about continuing their education. They ultimately chose Ma’had Ibnu Katsir in Jember, East Java. For four years, they pursued their studies with full dedication until they successfully completed their undergraduate programs.

The graduation moment was a milestone in their journey. Ahwin earned the title of valedictorian, while Nofri ranked third. Both memorized 30 juz of the Qur’an and were able to recite them in full three times in one sitting. These achievements reflect the discipline and perseverance they have cultivated since the beginning.

Now, they continue their journey by serving through khidmah programs across various regions in Java. Ahwin teaches in Mojokerto, Fadil and Alhadi in Semarang, while Arju and Nofri share their knowledge in Jember. For them, knowledge and Qur’anic memorization are not for oneself alone, but for the benefit of the community.

Their journey from remote Aceh to the mainland underscores the importance of structured education and consistent support.
