Human Initiative and PT Tirta Investama Launching Leuwinutug Waste Bank

15 October 2021

Human Initiative with PT. Tirta Investama – Sentul Plant inaugurated a Village-scale Waste Bank which will operate in two Neighborhood Associations (RT). First in RT 01 and second in RT 02 RW 07, Leuwinutug Village, Citeureup District, Bogor Regency, Wednesday (29/09/2022).

This Waste Bank was established as a solution to solve the problem of plastic waste in Indonesia through the #BijakBerplastik movement. This commitment is in line with the Indonesian government’s mission to reduce marine debris by 70 percent by 2025.

Waste Bank is a collective dry waste management that encourages the community to play an active role in it. This system will educate waste management both to public spaces and to schools, to accommodate, sort, and distribute waste with economic value to the market and those who need it. So that people get economic benefits from saving waste.

Launching Canpernik Waste Bank

The launching of the Canpernik Waste Bank in Blok Monong Village, RT 01 RW 07, Leuwinutug village, was attended by Astri Litriani Purwaningsih as Plant Manager of PT. Tirta Investama Sentul, Ridwan Said, S.STP, M.Si as Head of Citeureup Sub-district, Deden Saepul Hamdi as Head of Leuwinutug Village, and Manager of the Human Initiative Empowerment Program Agung Cahyanto, as well as local residents.

This launching aims to provide a stimulant for public awareness to be more concerned about environmental cleanliness, in an effort to create a healthy community environment. In his remarks, Ridwan Said, S.STP, M.Sc., as the Head of Citeureup Sub-district, said that this launching also supports the number one Pancakarsa of Bogor Regency, namely creating a quality society.

“With this Waste Bank, it is hoped that a clean, healthy and quality living culture can be realized. Also not to forget to encourage community participation to play an active role in realizing development synergies in the health sector. However, this cannot be realized if the people do not have the will to change their will to make their environment clean.” Said Ridwan Said S.STP, M.Si, as the Head of Citereup.

There are four official waste banks in Leuwinutug village which will later be under the auspices of the environmental task force and community empowerment institutions.

“Hopefully this will continue to be active and try it for fellow administrators because the location is close to industrial areas. Try working with factories in the management of plastic waste and organic waste. If everyone is aware of cleanliness, a clean and comfortable Leuwinutug village to live in will be realized,” said the Head of Leuwinutug Village, Deden Saepul Hamdi.
