Human Initiative Helps SAR Operations to Search SJ-182 Sriwijaya Air Crash Victims

Jakarta: In the early 2021, Indonesia is mourning. On Saturday, January 9, 2021, a commercial plane belonging to the Sriwjaya Air a flight route from Jakarta to Pontianak reportedly lost contact around Laki Island and Lancang Island, Kepulauan Seribu area.


As of Wednesday January 13, the Basarnas Team together with the TNI, Polri and all crews from various institutions are still searching for victims and the wreckage of the Sriwijaya Air SJ182 plane. The Human Initiative as a humanitarian organization takes part in helping search and rescue activities.

The Human Initiative rescue team led by Subur Rojinawi, went directly to the scene to assist the SAR operations. In addition, the Human Initiative team has also established a Water Kitchen to support the needs of volunteers, TNI, Polri, and Basarnas at the JICT Tanjung Priok integrated post.

Today the Human Initiative is again involved in the search for the plane victims. The search team was divided into three groups, namely 4 people who joined Basarnas for sweeping, then on the Republic of Indonesia Ship (KRI Wisnu) as an aircraft carrier for 1 person, and at the main post at JICT to set up a galley for 3 people.
“Then the team involved was divided into sweeping at Tanjung Kait near the crash for the next 13 days, and the team to prepare and maintain a water kitchen for victim-seeking volunteers,” said Subur.
