Humanitarian Aid Continues: Human Initiative and All Collaborative Partners Build Sustainable Commitment to Humanitarian Support in Palestine

Human Initiative – The humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Palestine, continues to draw the attention of people worldwide. The escalating conflict, which intensified in October 2023, has sparked global concern and prompted international reactions and support. In response, Human Initiative, a globally-reaching humanitarian organization, has launched a collaborative effort through the “Palestine 300 Days: Humanitarian Aid Continues” program. This initiative represents a tangible expression of ongoing commitment to humanitarian support amidst the Gaza-Palestine crisis, which has now persisted for 300 days since October 7, 2023.

The situation in Palestine remains highly uncertain. Israeli military occupation of refugee camps and Palestinian residential areas occurs frequently. The UN OCHA Situation Report – Day 292 even notes that Nuseirat and central Gaza City have become war zones, further shrinking the already narrow landscape of the Gaza Strip. Despite limited humanitarian aid, the Israeli military continues to push, forcing 90% of Gaza’s population to flee to designated zones.

Marking 300 days since the major escalation on October 7, 2023, Human Initiative and all collaborative partners have mobilized goodwill under the banner “Palestine 300 Days: Humanitarian Aid Continues.” At an event held at CGV FX Sudirman, Jakarta (August 2), Human Initiative presented the current situation and the various forms of aid that the Indonesian public has sent to Palestine. This support has been gathered through humanitarian collaboration with the Indonesian community and groups such as One Day One Juz (ODOJ), BTS ARMY Indonesia, Fitrop & Warga CPR, among others.

Tomy Hendrajati, President of Human Initiative, stated that the events in Gaza-Palestine have highlighted the generosity of the Indonesian people. Human Initiative believes that this phenomenon is not just about generosity, but a powerful humanitarian calling in response to the immense suffering experienced by our brothers and sisters in Gaza-Palestine.

“Human Initiative did not anticipate this. It turns out that support for the struggle of Gaza-Palestine, particularly for humanitarian organizations in delivering aid, is also backed by many communities from diverse hobbies, interests, and other groups. Human Initiative has observed that the events in Gaza-Palestine have sparked a great deal of generosity and concern, ultimately fostering the support for humanity that we must uphold,” said Tomy.

He further elaborated that while challenges in delivering humanitarian aid are common, the process of conveying the goodwill and concern of the Indonesian public to our brothers and sisters in Gaza-Palestine is far more complex. Nevertheless, Human Initiative remains determined and motivated to fulfill this mandate and ensure that aid reaches those who are entitled to it.

“Humanitarian organizations, particularly Human Initiative, implement various approaches in humanitarian response mechanisms. This begins with being part of the Republic of Indonesia’s humanitarian aid delegation to Gaza, collaborating with local partners in Palestine through the Indonesian Humanitarian Alliance, and establishing strategic partnerships with entities that have access to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza-Palestine. These efforts are aimed at facilitating and ensuring the safety of humanitarian workers,” he explained.

Facilitating the goodwill of the Indonesian people to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza-Palestine is no easy task, Tomy continued. Despite the challenges, the efforts to carry out this mandate continue, impacting 219,815 lives with the humanitarian aid provided. This aid includes various programs such as water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), cash assistance, food security, psychosocial support, health services, and winter aid, spread across six regions in Palestine.

Building on the commitment of “Humanitarian Aid Continues,” Human Initiative strives to extend the goodwill of the Indonesian people to the Palestinian people by providing essential food supplies, clean water distribution, strengthening medical services, and cash assistance for paramedics in Gaza. Additional aid will be distributed to refugee camps in Egypt, including cash assistance for refugees, patients, paramedics, housing, ambulance procurement, and psychosocial support.

For Tomy, this collective goodwill demonstrates that humanity is something that never fades from all people in the world. On behalf of humanity, he, representing Human Initiative, expressed immense gratitude for the concern of the Indonesian people in alleviating the humanitarian crisis in Gaza-Palestine.

“This is all collaborative work, the goodwill of the community, with Human Initiative playing its role as a facilitator in this context. We are not the owners of all this goodwill, as our organization’s vision is to Moving Goodness to Dignify Humanity,” concluded Tomy.
