Lala & Dela, Inspirational Siblings Who Are Volunteers at The HOME Children Learning Center

Play, Learn, and Understand Children, that’s what Lala and Dela do, siblings who are now spending most of the time accompanying children learning at HOME Children Learning Center, Cimanggis, Depok, West Java.

Lala joins into part of HOME since the center was founded. Lala who had been aspiring as a teacher and like the children, now has been assigned to become a manager of a sheleter for children around Cisalak area, Cimanggis. While her sister, Delaila P. Ramadhani (Dela) has an opportunity to become an English teacher here.

Volunteer Pengajar HOME

HOME CLC itself is one of the Human Initiative programs, where shelter for children around the Cisalak area whose parents go to work to spend their time. HOME is trying to be a place to tell, study, and comfortable play so that they can make home as their second home.

Not only learning academic lessons, in this place, children also learn about personal development and various creativity practices such as drawing, coloring, and dancing saman.

There is also counseling for clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS). The activity explains among other things, how to wash hands properly, education about Covid-19, and dental and oral hygiene. This program is sometimes a cooperation program with pharmaceutical students, lecturers, or volunteer hives carried out every 2 months.

There is also an anti-bullying campaign for 5th, 6th, middle and high school children. On that occasion, they got an explanation about bullying and the impact of bullying. They also have the opportunity to write their natural wealth and things they like or did not like in a notebook.

Not only for students, HOME CLC also held a parenting online seminar for parents. Sometimes, the internal Human Initiative itself give the parenting material or practitioners, in accordance with the discussion of the related issue.

 

Development of the Student of HOME Children Learning Center

Aldila Gayatri (Lala) who has been taught one year at home also moves to see the development of children’s personality. “They used to be reminded to always wash their hands. Now they reflexively remind each other to wash your hands and maintain cleanliness, “Lala said. In addition, the habit of praying and asking permission to do something slowly embedded in themselves.

Until now the number of students registered in HOME reached 115 children with 2 permanent teachers and 23 Volunteer people. With 115 children and teachers then the session is divided every Monday to Saturday according to the class level so that there is no accumulation of the number of people in the HOME CLC. On Monday to Friday, the regular lesson takes place from 12:30 – 17:00 WIB, while on Saturday, they start learning at 09.30.

Even though it starts at 12:30 a.m., children are free to come and visit home from 09.00 WIB. They usually ask material in schools that they don’t understand. Sometimes it also borrows home gadgets to learn online, or make home as convenient online learning locations.
