#LightUpHope: Lisya, A Young Dreamer Defying the Odds

Meet Lisya. At just 13 years old, she’s a middle school student with dreams as big as her challenges. Lisya’s journey has been far from easy. She lost her father at a very young age during elementary school, and in 2020, tragedy struck again when her beloved mother, her source of strength and love, passed away after battling illness. Now, Lisya, a young girl with unwavering determination, is an orphan.

Lisya lives with her grandmother, the only family she has left. But life hasn’t stopped testing her resilience. Late last year, their only home—a modest structure they had relied on—collapsed. The aging and fragile building could no longer stand, leaving Lisya and her grandmother without a place to call safe shelter.

Despite her struggles, Lisya refuses to give up. She holds tightly to her hopes and dreams for the future. “Bismillah, I’m confident that, InsyaAllah, I can succeed and achieve my goals,” Lisya says with determination.

Thanks to the support of compassionate Dear Initiators through the Rumah Yatim (House of Orphans) program under the #LightUpHope campaign, Lisya is beginning to see a glimmer of hope. Her dream is simple but deeply meaningful: to build a safe and comfortable home where she and her grandmother can live in peace.

Lisya is deeply grateful for the kindness and generosity of the Dear Initiators who have extended their support. She now waits eagerly, filled with optimism, to see her dream home become a reality. “Thank you, Dear Initiators, for helping to bring our dream to life,” Lisya expresses with heartfelt gratitude.
