Losing His Sight to Bomb Shrapnel Did Not Break Ihsan’s Spirit to Keep Moving Forward

Ihsan, a 38-year-old man from Palestine, now faces each day without his vision. He once lived a simple life with his family. Every morning, he greeted his neighbors and enjoyed the bright sky above his home. Life was peaceful—until everything changed. One day, an explosion struck his neighborhood. Bomb shrapnel hit both of his eyes, leaving him completely blind.

From that moment, the world he once knew turned into darkness. Yet Ihsan refused to give up. He continued trying to live his life, even though everything felt different. After some time, he crossed into Egypt in June 2024 to find a safer place. There, Ihsan began learning how to adapt to his new condition. He could no longer see, but he recognized the sounds around him. The call to prayer, the voices of people, and the laughter of children helped him feel connected to the life he once had in Palestine.

Living without sight is not easy, but Ihsan faces it with patience. He believes every trial carries meaning. With that conviction, he keeps taking steps forward, trying to rebuild his life. For Ihsan, losing his vision is not the end—it is the beginning of a new way of seeing the world through the heart.
