As social beings, humans have a responsibility to help one another. In Islam, helping fellow Muslims is a command from Allah, as stated in the following verse:
وَتَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَى
“And cooperate in righteousness and piety.” (QS. Al-Ma’idah (5): 2)
Some people believe that helping others requires a large sum of money. As a result, they choose to wait until they are wealthy before giving back. However, this mindset is not entirely accurate, as there are many ways to help others without spending a lot of money.
Here are five ways our Dear Initiators can help others without significant financial expense.
One of the easiest ways to help others is by sharing knowledge, as it allows people to benefit and improve their lives. The best part? It doesn’t have to cost much, especially in today’s digital era. Dear Initiators can simply use social media and personal skills to share valuable knowledge with the community.
Another way to help is by donating items to those in need. It doesn’t have to be expensive—Dear Initiators can give away unused but well-maintained items such as clothing, toys, household essentials, and more. These small acts of kindness can bring great joy to those who might not otherwise afford these necessities.
Blood donation is a noble act that can save lives. It provides hope and a chance of survival for those in need of transfusions. However, not everyone qualifies as a donor, as there are specific health requirements to meet. Therefore, it is important for Dear Initiators to check their health conditions before donating blood.
For those who love engaging with the community, volunteering is a great way to help. Being a volunteer requires dedication rather than financial resources. One organization that Dear Initiators can join is Human Initiative, which has made a significant humanitarian impact in Indonesia and beyond.
The simplest yet most powerful act of kindness is smiling at others. It takes no effort or material possessions, yet it can brighten someone’s day. Even Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized that smiling is a form of charity and a right of every Muslim when meeting others.
Dear Initiators, these are five simple ways to give back without spending much money. Never hesitate to help others, because even the smallest gestures can create meaningful change—for both those in need and for ourselves, in this world and the hereafter.
