NTB Governor Welcomes Human Initiative for Economic Empowerment Synergy

Mataram — The Governor of West Nusa Tenggara, Dr. Lalu Muhamad Iqbal, held a meeting with Human Initiative, a humanitarian organization focused on social welfare, on Tuesday (April 8, 2025) in his office.

During the meeting, Governor Iqbal warmly welcomed the Human Initiative delegation and expressed appreciation for the organization’s contribution to supporting community economic empowerment in NTB.

“We support this initiative. We hope these economic empowerment programs will succeed and have a positive impact on improving the local economy,” said the Governor, commonly known as Miq Iqbal.

Human Initiative President, Tomy Hendrajati, thanked Governor Iqbal for the warm reception. He explained that Human Initiative has been working in NTB for a long time, especially after the 2018 earthquake.

“We have not only been present during the emergency response phase but have continued to commit to community empowerment programs,” he said.

Tomy further explained three main programs of Human Initiative currently focused on NTB:

• Coffee farmer assistance in Sembalun, strengthened through partnerships with local cooperatives.

• Assistance for weaving artisans in Pringgasela, aimed at improving the quality and marketing of local woven products.

• Strengthening of the Palm Sugar SMEs in Kekait Village, through training, provision of equipment, and market development.

“We hope for support from the NTB Provincial Government so these programs can continue as part of our contribution to regional development,” Tomy concluded.
