Initiative for Empowerment

Initiative for Empowerment or also called the Empowerment Cluster is a collection of various empowerment programs that are applied at the individual, family and wider environment level to improve the quality of life and the ability of the beneficiaries of this program in an effort to improve sustainable welfare. The Cluster Program approaches empowerment through a process of community facilitation so that they can organize their full potential to solve their problems.

Our Nutrition Friend or “SAGITA” is a program that is intended as a form of prevention and control of nutritional health problems among mothers and children. The ultimate goal of this program is to increase the intake of nutritious food through supplementary feeding, improving nutritional status and growth and development of children under five through nutrition school, and women’s participation in improving nutrition in their areas through empowering women.

Therefore, the targets of this program are areas vulnerable to cases of malnutrition. In addition, there are also other areas that are difficult to access or too densely populated. We hope that the presence of this program can help the community to increase their awareness of the importance of nutritious intake and further improve their lifestyle towards a healthier way.

The Sanitation Village Program is a program that focuses on understanding and changing people’s behavior about PHBS and the formation of community groups that are able to independently meet the needs of proper sanitation in their areas in a sustainable manner. The form of activities focuses on four things, namely the formation of empowered cadres, sanitation infrastructure development, and the formation of the STBM environment.

The form of the program, known as the Arisan Latrine, consists of various activities, including the Training for Trainer of Sanitation Cadres, Procurement of Education Media, Triggering, Formation of a Sustainable Latrine Arisan Group, Assistance, and Sanitation Facility Development.
The ultimate goal of this program is to increase sustainable access to improved sanitation. In addition, based on a study conducted by the Ministry of Home Affairs published in the 2016 World Bank report, sanitation has an impact on improving the degree of public health and reducing poverty in an area.

Community Independent Business Group is a community empowerment program that aims to improve the economy of a family. This program is carried out by forming several business units that would later be managed by each family so as to increase the family’s income. KUMM tries to answer some economic problems faced by underprivileged families, including the fulfillment of family needs, whether in the form of daily, weekly, or monthly, uncertain family income, and allocating money to meet various primary family needs, so that there are no funds remaining that can be saved.

One family is expected to run a business. The main objective of the Community Independent Business Group Program (KUMM) is the existence of 2 alternative income owned by poor families so that they can increase their income.
