Restoring Learning Activities in Aceh Tamiang: Qiscus and Human Initiative Collaborate to Help Child Survivors Return to School

Flooding in Aceh Tamiang affected not only residential areas but also disrupted education. Data from the Ministry of Education recorded around 2,756 schools across Aceh impacted by the disaster, including hundreds of schools in Aceh Tamiang. These conditions forced students to continue learning under limitations and encouraged many parties to help sustain access to education.

Qiscus together with Human Initiative responded to these needs through the Sumatra Recovery Program. The program took place on 11 February 2026 at SDN 1 Kuala Simpang and SDN 05 Peusangan Siblah Krueng, two schools directly affected by flooding caused by heavy rainfall. The main focus centered on restoring learning activities so children could gradually return to their daily routines with greater peace of mind.

The team distributed school supply packages for students, including school bags, notebooks, and stationery. This support helped children return to learning with proper educational supplies. At the same time, assistance was also provided to the schools through emergency school packages containing teaching materials, teachers’ equipment, electric fans, folding study desks, and tent flooring to support temporary learning spaces.

Children once again sat in classrooms with brighter expressions. Conversations and laughter slowly returned to the learning environment, while teachers resumed teaching in a more encouraging atmosphere. Learning activities gradually continued, creating space for children to regain comfort, confidence, and enthusiasm in their education.

Human Initiative views every recovery effort as part of protecting the future of children. The collaboration with Qiscus demonstrates how collective action can expand the reach of support and accelerate recovery efforts in affected communities.
