Situation Report : Earthquake Shakes Mamuju, West Sulawesi

Mamuju, West Sulawesi – A tectonic earthquake occured in the west coast of Mamuju, West Sulawesi on Wednesday (8/6) at 12.32.36 WIB. This earthquake caused the destruction of a number of buildings in Mamuju. It also forced a number of local residents to be evacuated to protect themselves from the risk of the earthquake. According to information from BMKG, the earthquake did not have the potential for a tsunami.
Human Initiative team is reviewing the site and coordinating with the local government to find out more about the impact so that the team can take emergency action as soon as possible to help the affected people. The evacuation sites were observed to be in Daratan Tinggi, Kelapa Tujuh, and at the West Sulawesi Regional Police.
