SUN CSA Indonesia Launches First NUTRISI Series: Stories from Nutrition Frontliners in Primary Health Care

Jakarta, 22 August 2025 – SUN CSA Indonesia launched its knowledge-sharing forum titled NUTRISI (Ngobrol SepUTar pRogram Inspiratif Sehatkan Indonesia) on Friday (22/8). The inaugural session carried the theme “Stories from the Frontline: Civil Society Initiatives in Improving Nutrition in Primary Health Care.”

Held virtually via Zoom, the event was attended by SUN CSA Indonesia members along with other SUN networks, including government representatives, academics, and civil society organizations. NUTRISI is designed as a platform to share best practices, open opportunities for program replication, and strengthen collaboration among partners in tackling nutrition challenges in Indonesia.

Primary Health Care as the Frontline

In the opening remarks, organizers emphasized that the decline in stunting prevalence from 24.4 percent in 2021 to 19.8 percent in 2024 deserves recognition. However, the national target of 14 percent still requires stronger collective action. Primary health care was highlighted as the frontline in this effort, serving as the first point of contact between communities and health services at the local level.

Several speakers shared their experiences. Dimiyati Syahidah from Human Initiative stressed the importance of community empowerment in strengthening food security, while Rudi Sofyan underscored the role of community leaders in mobilizing local action. From the health services side, Nor Laila Febriana highlighted the vital role of health cadres in assisting children with nutrition problems, and Aldhea Ayu W. shared direct experiences of providing support at the primary health care level.

Collaboration Towards a Healthy Indonesia

The interactive discussion generated diverse perspectives on how civil society, local leaders, and health workers can work hand in hand to accelerate the reduction of stunting rates in Indonesia. Forum participants welcomed the NUTRISI initiative as a shared space to reinforce cross-sector collaboration. Transparency, accountability, and a spirit of partnership were emphasized as the foundation for improving national nutrition outcomes.

SUN CSA Indonesia reaffirmed its commitment to making NUTRISI a regular forum, ensuring that best practices from various regions continue to be disseminated and inspire a collective movement towards a healthier, stunting-free Indonesia.
