TMT Group and Human Initiative Collaboration Supports the Recovery of 5,349 People Affected by Disasters in Sumatra

The floods and landslides that struck several areas in Sumatra at the end of 2025 left a significant impact on communities. According to BNPB data as of March 8, 2026, the disasters affected around 3.3 million people across 53 regencies and cities in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. More than 20,000 residents were displaced. A total of 1,207 people died, 138 people went missing, and around 5,000 people were injured.

To support the recovery process, TMT Group, consisting of Mahadasha, ABM Investama, and Trakindo Utama, collaborated with Human Initiative through the Sumatra Disaster Care Program. The activities took place from January to February 2026 and reached 5,349 people in North Aceh, Pidie Jaya, and Aceh Tamiang.

In North Aceh, the team built 31 temporary shelters for families who had lost their homes. The team also constructed wells, clean water towers, as well as water storage and piping systems to help communities gain access to clean water.

In addition, the team distributed 400 shelter kit packages containing tarpaulins, ropes, nails, hammers, and floor mats. In Pidie Jaya, 140 cooking utensil packages were distributed to help families resume their daily activities.

In Aceh Tamiang, this collaboration provided water tanks, supported clean water distribution, built wells, and distributed 200 school supply packages for affected children. Communities also received community work tools and excavator support to help with post-disaster environmental cleanup.

For affected communities, recovery does not only mean repairing damaged homes or facilities. Recovery also means being able to resume daily activities, meet basic needs, and rebuild life together with family and the surrounding community. The spirit of #SumatraPulih grows from these steps.
