At around 75 years old, Grandfather Sudar still lives in a simple house in Sawangan, Magelang. He lives with his children and grandchildren. His days are spent peacefully, though with many limitations.
Human Initiative volunteer, Ustadz Salaman Al-Jugjawi, visited him as part of the qurban distribution and humanitarian aid to remote areas. In the middle of their warm conversation, Grandfather Sudar shared that he hadn’t had meat for a long time.
“The last time was during Eid,” he said with a small smile.
Not because he doesn’t like it—on the contrary, meat is just not something he easily encounters. So, Eid al Adha becomes a moment he always looks forward to. Not only because of the qurban meat, but for one thing he misses most: family reunions.
“If you ask what I remember most about qurban… it’s that, being able to gather the family,” he said quietly.
Behind his simplicity, Grandfather Sudar teaches us that qurban is not just about the animals and the meat. It’s about gratitude, about togetherness, and about the hope that comes from the generous hands of people he has never met.
The qurban distribution program and humanitarian aid not only bring meat to remote areas. It brings back smiles, warmth, and hope.
This year, let’s bring joy to more people like Grandfather Sudar. Your qurban can become part of their story—a story about blessings that reach not only the dining table but also touch the hearts of those who are nearly forgotten.
Dear Initiators, there is still an opportunity to perform your qurban at the end of the days of tashriq. Let’s bring joy through qurban meat to those who rarely get to experience it. Simply visit:
