A Gift Sharing that Sparked Memories of Mrs. Tihat’s Late Husband

Ramadhan is already halfway over, and as part of the Human Initiative’s ‘Ramadhan for All’ program, stories are emerging from the distribution of Gift Sharing in Rumpin, Bogor. One of these stories involves Mrs. Tihat, a wife who misses her late husband.

On the third day of Ramadhan, Human Initiative, in collaboration with Abdur (Komika Indonesia), distributed humanitarian aid in Rumpin Village, Bogor (25/3).

During the distribution, Human Initiative met Mrs. Tihat (48), whose hand was tightly held by her little grandson. They talked about Ramadan, discussing the routine of worship and the food that is served during the holy month.

When Human Initiative asked Mrs. Tihat how she felt about receiving the basic food packages through the ‘Gift Sharing’ program, she began to share her memories. She spoke about the beautiful Ramadans she spent with her late husband, who passed away 10 years ago, just 10 days before the wedding of their first child.

A Great Joy in Simplicity

Mrs. Tihat’s impression left a lasting impact. She realized that happiness does not solely come from fulfilling all the material needs of the household, but rather from having a kind and loving soul mate for which she is immensely grateful.

Receiving the food packages from the Human Initiative’s ‘Gift Sharing’ program reminded Mrs. Tihat of past Ramadhan. The groceries in the box were the very items that used to adorn her simple everyday life with her husband.

“Imagine when my husband was still with me, sometimes I would cry. Sharing a simple meal with him was so delightful. Now I feel sad,” said Mrs. Tihat with tears in her eyes.

However, the kindness of the ‘Gift Sharing’ package from the Friends of the Initiator has become a source of encouragement for Mrs. Tihat. It has strengthened her during this Ramadan to be more engaged in worship and to always offer her best prayers for her late husband.
