Amazon Web Services (AWS) Partners with Human Initiative in Implementing Stunting Prevention Program in Karawang Regency

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has extended its reach to contribute to the stunting prevention program. The program takes place in 8 locations, namely Tanjungpura Village, Tanjungmekar Village, Mekarjati Village, Tunggakjati Village, Karawang Wetan, Karangpawitan, Klari Village, and Sumur Kondang Village. A total of 140 children with indications of stunting are participating in the program, which runs for 3 months from January to March 2024.

The program began with a kick-off event on February 26, 2024, to inaugurate and socialize the program to stakeholders in Karawang Regency. The kick-off event was attended by Kevin Miller, Vice President, Global Data Centers at Amazon Web Services, Vice President of Human Initiative, Bappeda Karawang Regency, and the Karawang Regency Health Office.

During the program, several activities were conducted, including the distribution of supplementary food, health education for mothers with toddlers, cooking classes held with participants and health cadres, health counseling, and anthropometric measurements (height and weight). The hope of this program for toddlers who are indicated for stunting is to experience an improvement in nutritional status.

Romi Ardiansyah, Vice President of Operations at Human Initiative, expressed his hopes for this collaborative program. “This program is very beneficial for the community, especially for toddlers who are already indicated for stunting. Hopefully, with this program, we can contribute to Karawang Regency in reducing the percentage of stunting to single digits,” he said.

Heni Indriyani, a Health Cadre from Karawang Wetan Program, expressed her gratitude. “Alhamdulillah, the program is very good. Children are happy with the food we serve. We provide eggs every day. Those who initially didn’t like eggs, Alhamdulillah, the children are also happy. And there are also children who have gained weight,” she said.
