An Opportunity to Perform Qurban for Scavengers in the City of Padang

Padang, West Sumatra – Dear Initiators, qurban worship during Eid al-Adha is a dream for everyone, including Mr. Adi (32), a scavenger in Padang City, West Sumatra.

Mr. Adi, employed as a scavenger in the Lubuk Minturun area, Koto Tangah District, Padang City, West Sumatra, has longed to perform qurban in 2023. Due to his limited income, he was unable to fulfill this desire and had to postpone it to his hometown.

Through the prayers he made, he was finally able to fulfill the sunnah muakkad qurban service this year. Not only that, his qurban worship took place in his hometown, just as he had dreamt. How did this happen?

Kindness from Human Initiative Donors

West Sumatra Human Initiative initiated the ‘Qurban Prize for Scavengers’ program for Human Initiative Donors. This program offers an opportunity for Human Initiative donors to perform qurban on behalf of the underprivileged.

Mr. Adi was among those who had the chance to perform qurban through this kind of program. The sacrificial goat was slaughtered on behalf of Mr. Adi at the Muhsinin Mosque, Lubuk Parandaman, Balai Gadang, Koto Tangah, Padang City.

“Alhamdulillah, finally my long-awaited intention to perform qurban this year has come true. Hopefully, I will have the opportunity to do it again next year,” he expressed his gratitude to the volunteers of the West Sumatra Human Initiative.

Happiness in Mr. Adi’s Hometown

Mr. Adi, along with his wife and their two young children, could never have imagined that this act of kindness would touch their lives. It turns out that Mr. Adi and his family were able to fulfill this Islamic obligation for financially capable Muslims this year.

The happiness they experienced extended beyond Mr. Adi’s family. The ‘Sacrificial Prize for Scavengers’ program brought joy to the people gathered at the Muhsinin prayer room. They expressed their happiness in witnessing the sacrifice and receiving qurban animals, which they rarely had the opportunity to see during Eid al-Adha.

Dear Initiators, we acknowledge that this act of kindness cannot bring happiness to all brothers and sisters in need around the world. However, through collective efforts like this, we can spread goodness and happiness.
