Cianjur Earthquake, West Java, BNPB: Residents Please Stay Alert

Situation Overview
Monday, November 21, 2022 at 13:21 WIB there was an earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter Scale (SR). The earthquake had a depth of 10 KM southwest of Cianjur Regency, West Java.
The Human Initiative team has gone to the location and is coordinating with the local government to find out more about the impact so that the team can take emergency action as soon as possible to help the affected residents. According to monitoring information circulating, there was some damage to buildings and roads that were buried in landslides, but data collection is still ongoing for the damage.
Through the BNPB (BPBD) website, Cianjur Regency reported that apart from the death toll, four residents were injured. Volunteers who took to the field are still collecting data in the area. Provisional data as of 14.11 local time: Temporary material losses were recorded in Cianjur Regency: 7 units of houses were heavily damaged (data collection), 1 unit of Islamic boarding school was heavily damaged, 1 unit of Cianjur Hospital was moderately damaged, 3 units of government buildings were damaged; 3 units of educational facilities damaged; 1 unit of worship facilities damaged; 1 unit shop damaged; 1 cafe unit was damaged, meanwhile several areas felt the vibration.
BNPB urges local governments and residents to continue to increase awareness and preparedness for the dangers of earthquakes. Local residents who want to enter their house again are expected to check the structure of the building and make sure there is no structural damage such as house pillars, roofs and so on. In addition, stay alert for the potential for aftershocks.
“At least 46 people died and at least 700 people were injured due to an earthquake measuring 5.6 in Cianjur, West Java on Monday (21/11),” said Cianjur Regent Herman Suherman.
