Economic Independence Program for SMEs and Islamic Boarding Schools in Makassar

[Makassar, August 22, 2022] at 14.30 WITA. To support the improvement of the community’s economy, Maybank Indonesia Sharia Business Unit (UUS) collaborates with Human Initiative (HI) of South Sulawesi. The collaboration was implemented by launching the Community Economic Independence program in Makassar and its surrounding areas. In the program, there are a series of activities including business assistance worth Rp. 95,000,000. The head of the Maybank Indonesia of Perintis Kemerdekaan Branch Office, Mrs. Novita Pangara, symbolically handed over the assistance to Swadi, the Head of South Sulawesi Human Initiative Branch. The fund is a benevolent fund managed by UUS Maybank Indonesia which was distributed to 5 MSME players and 1 Islamic boarding school. In addition to business funding assistance, thw beneficiaries will also receive business assistance for the next 3 (three) months from Human Initiative.

“We hope that this program will have an impact on improving the community’s economy, especially those who have been affected by their business in the last two years due to the impact of social restrictions during the pandemic,” said Swadi, always Head of the HI South Sulawesi Branch.

Mrs. Novita, the Head of the Maybank Perintis Kemerdekaan Branch Office said, “We hope that this assistance can provide benefits for MSME actors. This is also in line with our vision of humanizing financial service. Hopefully in the future the businesses of the beneficiaries can continue to grow so that it will have a continued impact on the communities around them”.

This handover of the funding assistance took place solemnly, and it was closed with a group photo.
