Fulfilling Children’s Rights, Human Initiative Presents HOME Learning Center in South Sulawesi

Makassar, South Sulawesi – Human Initiative, represented by the South Sulawesi branch, has introduced a HOME Learning Center on Butta Butta Caddi Street, Kaluku Bodoa Village, Makassar City. This center is established to fulfill children’s rights by nurturing their abilities and skills in a positive way that benefits the community.

The inauguration of HOME (Hug, Opportunity, Mentality, Education) was attended by 67 individuals. Among them were representatives from Kaluku Bodoa Village, the Chair of LPM, Babinsa, Bhabinkamtibmas, PKK, community leaders, local youth leaders, Human Initiative volunteers, and prospective mentors for HOME.

Suryadi, the Head of Kaluku Boddoa Urban Village, expressed in his speech that the HOME Learning Center should operate effectively. He also expressed his hope that HOME would expand and establish centers throughout the area.

“I hope that in the future, there will be a HOME in every corner of Kaluku Boddoa,” said Suryadi.

The South Sulawesi branch of Human Initiative, responsible for implementing the HOME Learning Center, explained the reasons for selecting Kaluku Boddoa as the beneficiary. Apart from receiving free rent from a benefactor, there are other factors related to child welfare.

“We chose this area because Kaluku Boddoa Village has a large population. Moreover, there is a high number of school dropouts and cases of stunting,” said Wenni Alfianti, Head of the South Sulawesi Human Initiative Program.

Wenni further explained that Human Initiative hopes the HOME Learning Center will serve as a safe space for children to play and learn. In addition to positively impacting children, various programs are also expected to benefit parents.
