HOME Learning Center: Human Initiative Collaborates with Paragon Group to Foster Kindness

Depok, West Java – Human Initiative collaborates with PT. Paragon Technology & Innovation (Paragon Group) to establish a HOME Learning Center for children and youth in Cisalak Pasar, Depok, West Java. In its inauguration on June 15th, Human Initiative invited 239 children and youth from the surrounding area to become familiar with HOME Learning Center in their community.

During the inauguration in collaboration with Paragon Group, Human Initiative officially changed the designation of HOME (Hug, Opportunity, Mentality, Education) from HOME Children Center to HOME Learning Center. The reason is, as the HOME program is running in Depok, many of the teenagers are also attending to study together in it.

“Hopefully HOME Learning Center can be a useful place. Besides that, Home can be a fun place to learn,” said Langga Pratama, Partnership Specialist at Human Initiative.

Parents’ Aspirations

HOME Learning Center Depok has become a second home for children in Cisalak Pasar area. Learning and playing centers always open their doors for children with teachers in various fields.

Citra (30), a parent of a child studying at HOME Learning Center Depok, expressed her hopes. She hopes that HOME Learning Center in Depok will train her children to be braver and more enthusiastic about learning.

“Here (HOME Learning Center) the atmosphere is definitely different because there are lots of friends and there are older teachers too. Hopefully, they will be more enthusiastic about learning,” said Citra.

Competent Teaching Volunteers

So, who will be the teachers? Apart from consisting of several employees, Human Initiative also opens opportunities for volunteers to share their knowledge. Through the syllabus that has been compiled from Human Initiative, volunteers will prepare a variety of interesting materials for HOME Learning Center Depok children and youth.

One of them is student from the University of Indonesia’s Physics Department Student Association (HMDF UI). This is their second year running a community service program at HOME Learning Center Depok.

“This year the theme that HMDF UI has adopted is the environment. In the existing proposals, HMDF UI will educate about protecting the environment. There are also joint tree planting activities, waste sorting, and distribution of food boxes,” said Zidan, Head of HMDF UI Community Social Department.

Last year, HMDF UI as a volunteer taught science to HOME Learning Center children. This activity run once a week during September 2022.
