Initiator Friends, How important Sacrifice Worship is?

One of the lessons learned from Qurban is to imitate the Prophet Ibrahim Alaihissalam. At that time Allah tested him by giving him orders in a dream to slaughter his son, Prophet Ismail Alaihissalam. However, suddenly Allah replaced Prophet Ismail with a lamb. So, qurban also teaches us to be patient with Allah’s provisions and Allah’s commands, because Allah is always with those who are patient. Seeing the long history of qurban worship. How important is Qurban worship for us?

Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala hints at Qurban as worship which in several verses of the Qur’an is equal with prayer. As we know, prayer is the most important physical worship for Muslims. Allah SWT says:
Say, “Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allāh, Lord of the worlds” (Surah Al-An’am :162)

And in another verse Allah says:
“So establish prayer for your Lord and sacrifice” (Surah Al-Kautsar: 2)

Initiator Friends, the two verses above are proof that the position of Qurban is special in Islam. The scholars agree that the best worship done with wealth is to make sacrifices. As the best worship done physically is prayer. In the two verses above, prayer and sacrifice go hand in hand.
Thus, Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala commands us to sacrifice not to spend our possessions. However, the meaning of qurban is sacrificing what is most precious to us from worldly affairs and prioritizing the love of Allah.
