Human Initiative and MTT Sulawesi Collaborate to Send 15 Thousand Liters of Clean Water to Timbuseng Village

Gowa, South Sulawesi – A total of 136 households in Timbuseng Village, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi Province, received 15 thousand liters of clean water as a benevolent action from Human Initiative in collaboration with the Telkomsel Taqwa Regional Sulawesi Assembly (MTT Sulawesi) on Thursday (10/19). In the “Clean Water Distribution” program, Human Initiative, through its South Sulawesi branch representatives, transported clean water to the residential areas with a tanker truck.

The prolonged dry season in Indonesia has caused an extraordinary scarcity of water in various regions, including Dusun Timbuseng in Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi Province. Through this program, 136 households from three hamlets in Timbuseng Village benefited from the collaboration with MTT Sulawesi. These hamlets included 78 households from Tamalate Hamlet, 43 households from Bollangi Hamlet, and 15 households from Balangpapa Hamlet. The severe water scarcity has reached a point where the majority of women in the queue consider water in their area as precious as gold.

“We are more willing to share rice with our neighbors than to share water. Now, water here is as precious as gold, given how difficult it is to obtain water. Hopefully, every drop of this water becomes a charitable act for those who provide it,” said one of the women in the queue.

Orderly and United Residents

The Human Initiative South Sulawesi branch, which witnessed the joy of Timbuseng Village residents, reported that the “Clean Water Distribution” program went smoothly. Volunteers responsible for the program’s execution noted that the residents appeared happy, even sharing laughter while waiting in line for water.

The residents didn’t just bring containers to meet their family’s needs. To expedite the water distribution, enthusiastic women filled large, colorful tanks lined up for this purpose. This made it easier for those in the back of the line, who might only have smaller containers.

Swardi, the Head of the South Sulawesi Branch of Human Initiative, hopes that the Clean Water Distribution program will benefit the residents of Timbuseng Village. Furthermore, he aspires for this assistance to help fulfill the basic needs of the community.

“May the distribution of clean water to drought-affected residents help fulfill the essential needs of the community,” he concluded.
