Human Initiative Distributes Aid to 17,865 Residents Affected by Cianjur Earthquake

Cianjur  – Monday (21/11), at 13.21 WIT an earthquake with a magnitude (M) of 5.6 shoke Cianjur Regency, West Java and its surroundings. The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) released that the earthquake was a tectonic earthquake that occurred at a depth of 11 km. Since the incident until now (6/12), Human Initiative has distributed assistance to 17,865 residents affected by the earthquake.

Since the first Cianjur Earthquake, Human Initiative Emergency Response Team has dispatched 19 personnel consisting of 4 SAR teams, 6 study teams, 5 program and distribution teams, 2 coordination teams, and 2 communication and documentation teams. The Human Initiative also fielded 1 rescue car and 1 trail motorcycle to facilitate mobilization.

During the 7 day emergency response period, Human Initiative coordinated with the BNPB team, BASARNAS, SAR team and the local government. After that, the evacuation process took place. Human Initiative together with the team in the field evacuated the residents, especially those buried under the rubble of buildings. Apart from the evacuation process, Human Initiative also provides battery charging posts in places that experience power outages and distributes a number of ready-to-eat meals to local residents.

In addition to the Emergency Response team, Human Initiative also dispatched a team tasked with conducting an impact study at the incident location. This team is assigned to map needs in the field so as the distribution of aid will be more effective and efficient.

Through this assessment process, Human Initiative has distributed assistance to 17,865 affected residents in 12 locations, namely the villages of Limbangan Sari, Sukamulya, Benjot, Cijedil, Sukajaya, Ciwalen, Pamoyanan, Talaga, Ciherang, Nyalindung, Cibulakan and Sukawangi.

The forms of assistance distributed were basic food, ready-to-eat food, personal hygiene packages, sleeping equipment, emergency tent equipment and equipment for cleaning up ruins, public toilets and temporary shelters.
