Makassar, South Sulawesi – Human Initiative, in collaboration with PT. PLN Indonesia Power Unit for Power Generation Control (UPDK) Tello, distributed 211,200 liters of clean water to over 30 locations. The water distribution sites are scattered across Tello Baru Subdistrict, Panakkukang District, Makassar City.

The prolonged dry season affecting almost all areas of Indonesia has led to the drying up of water sources. In support of providing clean water in Makassar City, Human Initiative’s South Sulawesi branch, along with PLN IP UPDK Tello, distributed clean water to over 30 locations.

The water distribution, which started on October 21, 2023, and will continue until November 5, 2023, is supplying 4,440 liters of water at each location. “Alhamdulillah, this is very helpful, considering that water is one of the essential needs. We express our gratitude to PLN for providing assistance,” said one resident to the Human Initiative volunteers.

Zainal Arifin, the Environmental Executive Officer of PLN IP UPDK Tello, hopes that this assistance can meet the basic needs of the residents of Makassar City. At least, he continued, the water needs of the residents can be gradually fulfilled.

“Seeing the increasingly difficult water situation, PLN IP UPDK Tello, in collaboration with Human Initiative, initiated the supply of water needs for the surrounding residents. We feel this is necessary because water is one of the essential needs,” he stated.

Ibrahim, a program team member of Human Initiative South Sulawesi, expressed his hope that such kindness will continue. Moreover, the long dry season has hindered the fulfillment of basic needs.

“Together with the kindness of PLN IP UPDK Tello, we are striving to meet the need for clean water during this dry season. May this collaboration continue to provide solutions amid the issues faced by the community,” concluded Ibrahim.
