The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs and HI Distribute Bicycles for Children in Papua

At the independence month, children in the Apawer district, Sarmi Regency, Papua, get a new experience in going to school. Bicycle assistance for children there has arrived on June 19, 2022. We can see the documentation of the handing over through twitter account of the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs.
Previously, the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemensos RI) and Human Initiative collaborated to send bicycles to children in Sarmi district. The collaboration for the bicycle program for children in Papua was established on June 3, 2022 at the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs office.
Through the Synod Indonesian Christian Church in Sarmi district, 50 bicycles were officially distributed to the children there. The bicycle is very useful as it canbe used by the children from home to school.

Want to have a bicycle, so it’s easy to go to school
The Minister of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Tri Rismaharini, sent his greetings to the children in Papua.
“My children, I remember that you wanted to have a bicycle to go to school. And here on the island of Java, there are your brothers and sisters who care about you. Through Human Initiative, now you have the bike. So, don’t be tired of studying! Don’t be discouraged in trying! God is always with people who are not tired in trying and do not know despair,” said the Minister of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.
To make it easier for the children to travel to school, the children there really want to get a bicycle. This was immediately conveyed to the Minister’s mother when she visited there.
At that time Risma asked the children in Sarmi district “what do you want?”.

“I want my bike, Mom, because school is far away,” answered one of the children there.
“Bicycle? OK, are there anyone who wants a bike?” ask the minister.
Soon all the children there expressed their desire to have a bicycle.
“me,” they said excitedly.
