Jakarta: Thursday, January 28, 2021, has become one of important days in minimizing the spread of COVID-19 in Indonesia, Jakarta Capital City in particular. Human Initiative in collaboration with NAMA Foundation, Jakarta Provincial Government, and Ai-Labs launched Mobile Lab PCR Test Covid-19 Biosafety Level BSL-2.

As reported by detik.com on Monday (26/01/2021), the number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia is increasing, reaching 1 million cases. It shows that the pandemic is not over yet and requires supports from various parties to decrease the number of cases. To cope with this problem, Mobile Lab has been initiated to become a solution to curb the spread of COVID-19.

“The existance of BSL-2 standard Mobile Lab PCR Test is expected to help the health workers when checking COVID-19 to the people, and to make it easier to reach the Red Zone Area in Jakarta.” Tomy Hendrajati, President of the Human Initiative, explained.

There will be 3 container car units along with supporting tools such as PCR kits, a set of lab tools, until the car operation. This BSL-2 standard Mobile Lab is recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).

This Mobile Lab has also been assessed by the Jakarta Provincial Health Office, together with professional organizations, namely the Association of Indonesian Clinical Microbiology Specialists (PAMKI), the Association of Clinical Pathology Specialists, and Indonesian Medicine (PDS PatKLIn). It is also in accordance with the Decree of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 9847 of 2020 concerning the Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) Testing Laboratory Network.

For the long term, this Mobile Lab can still operate for other laboratory needs, such as biological research, clinical testing, and even analysis for Hi-Risk virus epidemics such as A-H1N1 Swine Flu, H5N1 AVIAN Flu / Bird Flu, FMD, TB, Salmonella, and others.

“Therefore, I hope this assistance can be of meaningful and beneficial to all of us,” Tomy Hendrajati concluded.
