Roya: Eager to Learn

A happy light shone from Annisa’s little eyes when Volunteers of @humaninitiative_jateng handed over the mandate from the Initiator Friends in the form of school supplies. She was the second grade elementary school student at one of the schools in Magelang, Central Java. Even though she is only seven years old, she has a strong dream of becoming a hafidzhoh. The girl who is more familiarly called Roya is excited during math class. For her multiplication is fun and easy.

“My father is selling well,” said Roya who was happy. Roya’s father is a tofu seller. Every morning her father went around the village to sell tofu. While her mother is a basket craftsman who sells her woven products to middlemen and then sells them to collectors using a pickup truck. Although still small, she already understands the condition of her parents, this situation does not stop her enthusiasm for learning.

Roya’s Day

At seven in the morning, teaching and learning activities have started. Roya admitted that she had no difficulty following the lessons. “The exam is easy,” commented Roya to the Human Initiative team regarding her test. At 10.00 WIB, learning at school was finished, but not with other lessons. Apart from studying at school, she also participated in group learning activities and actively participated in lessons to repeat lessons. His enthusiasm for learning can be seen from this young age. Like children in general, playing cooking is one of the things Roya enjoys the most. After school she used to study, play or sleep.
