Ayyub Ahmad: The Spirit of Fighting Together

“After I followed this preparedness meeting, I felt that I was not alone. There are also many people who are fighting in the same line with me. Even though it may be a different institution,” said Ayyub, one of the thousands of participants who attended the rally to prepare for the rainy season. The Jakarta State Islamic University student, who has joined Human Initiative volunteer since early 2020, came to the location with a dark suit and a camera on his shoulder.

According to Ayyub, this standby call serves to see the SAR potential available in the Jakarta area. It also has a side effect of being a motivational building platform for volunteers working in the field to continue competing in goodness.

This 19-year-old youth who likes photography also thinks that it is necessary to educate the general public regarding disaster mitigation, especially the flood itself, because the community is the first person in the event of a flood. They should at least be provided with knowledge of emergencies.

According to Ayyub, through the standby meeting, the risk of flooding can be reduced. Of course, with knowledge of available human resources and tools. If a disaster does occur, the government, which already has data on available human resources and natural resources, can easily organize the locations for various agencies to drop off so that there is no accumulation in one location and shortages in other locations, as a result, various risks can be handled properly.

The scorching heat of Jakarta did not dampen Ayub’s spirit. At this young age, Ayyub, who is an Informatics Engineering student, is already thinking critically. He decided to take an active role as well as contribute to the role he could take in society.

Initiator Friends can join in and imitate Ayyub’s spirit by being part of the Human Initiative volunteer through the HIVE website.
