Human Initiative Delivers Food Needs Aid to Remote Aceh hit by Floods

Aceh Tamiang – The overflow of Aceh Tamiang river last October caused floods in a number of isolated points. In response to this, Aceh Branch Human Initiative Volunteers together with Treasurer Police Personnel, Aceh Tamiang delivered food needs for flood survivors in Rantau Pakam village (3/11). This location is still isolated. Therefore, the volunteers went to the location by traditional local fishing boats.
For information, road access to Rantau Pakam village was flooded so it cannot be accesed by vehicles. The rain over the past week has caused floods with water levels varying between 50 cm to 150 cm.
Head of Human Initiative Aceh Branch, Apriadi said that he received information regarding several villages that needed assistance. Especially along the river embankments which include Rantau Pakam, Halaban Bay, Kemiri Bay and Kepayang Bay. According to the information, flthe survivors badly need food, as the location is isolated so supplies are running low.
“Our volunteers immediately moved quickly to respond to the situation by directly delivering the food needs. We were also assisted by local police personnel and village officials by fishing boats to navigate the swift currents of the river,” said Apriadi.
Treasurer Police personnel, led directly by Police Chief Iptu Tarmidi, accompanied the volunteers to Rantau Pakam village. This is to ensure a smooth process of sending aid to the survivors.
The people of Rantau Pakam Village are grateful for the assistance. They also really appreciate the struggle of volunteers and police who have been willing to come to their village to deliver food directly.
