Human Initiative Provides Water Kitchen Services for Residents Affected by Cianjur Earthquake

24 November 2022

Cianjur – Wednesday (23/11) The Human Initiative team provided kitchen water services at residential locations affected by the Cianjur earthquake. The water kitchen service is a place to stop and rest for local residents who need snacks or drinks. Apart from that, this water kitchen service is also one of the Human Initiative posts for earthquake disaster response. Dozens of residents and volunteers were observed lining up to enjoy this water kitchen service.

“For local residents and volunteers who are helping the evacuation process and distribution of aid. Here we provide drinks and snacks to be enjoyed. The hope is that this can also help the process of performance and handling of disaster emergencies.” Said Syamsul, the Human Initiative volunteer team.

Some time after the M5.6 earthquake occurred in Cianjur, the Human Initiative Team went straight to the location to help with the evacuation and coordination process. At that time the conditions at the scene were in a blackout. The Human Initiative team quickly built a Charging Station and distributed a number of ready-to-eat food aid to the affected residents.

On the other hand, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) asked people in Cianjur district to remain vigilant. An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 still has the potential for further disasters, namely floods and landslides.

“For the time being, don’t insist to go home if the building is damaged or cracked,” said the head of the BMKG as quoted from the BMKG press release (22/11).

As of the 22nd of November , there have been 117 aftershocks recorded with the largest vibration height of 4.2 and the smallest magnitude 1.5,” he added.

The Human Initiative team is still on standby at the scene. Coordination with local stakeholders is still ongoing.

“God willing, we will continue to strive to be able to ease the burden on our brothers and sisters affected by this disaster,” continued the HI Volunteer team.
