Human Initiative Sends a Team of Volunteers to the Cianjur Earthquake Location

22 November 2022

Cianjur – Human Initiative (HI) since Monday afternoon (21/11) has dispatched a Team of Volunteers to the earthquake site in Cianjur, West Java. The aim is to respond and speed up emergency response after the earthquake incident on Monday afternoon, November 21 2022 which affected thousands of people. Shortly after arriving at the location, the HI team immediately reacted quickly by providing a response of assistance.

The Head of the West Java Human Initiative Branch, Indra Budi Legowo, informed the assistance that had been distributed for initial treatment.

“Thank God we are trying to respond quickly by going down to the residential points of the affected residents. So far we have sent a Team to assist the evacuation process. On Monday night we also set up a charging station to help residents who need to charge their cellphones, considering that the electricity at that location has been out for quite a while. Logistical assistance in the form of ready-to-eat food and drinks has also been distributed to affected residents,” he said

The magnitude 5.6 earthquake that rocked Cianjur caused dozens of people to die. Many residents panicked and ran out of their homes. Residential settlements, government buildings and schools were also damaged. A number of roads on the Cipanas-Cianjur route were also cut off due to landslides.

“Currently the urgent needs are blankets, sleeping mats, ready-to-eat food medical services and tents for survivors. God willing, our team is also preparing Kitchen Water support at the scene,” concluded Indra.
