Collaboration to Provide Aid for People Affected by Palangka Raya Flood

23 November 2021

Initiator Friends, Palangka Raya is currently mourning. This is because floods have swept the area in Central Kalimantan since September 2021. As a result, as many as 31,013 residents of Palangka Raya City were affected by the flood. This puddle is thought to have occurred due to the flow of the overflowing large river in the area surrounding the flood because of rain.

The local government is currently focusing on providing treatment for the affected victims. They must ensure that they can meet all the basic needs of the affected people. In addition, evacuation posts are also available. Affected residents are asked to continue to apply health protocols considering that the current Covid-19 pandemic has not yet ended.

According to BPDP data from Palangka Raya City, as of Friday, November 19, 2021, the impact of the flood in addition to submerging thousands of residents’ houses, also inundated several existing public facilities. Starting from offices, schools, shopping centers, to places of worship.

Currently the condition of the flood is slowly starting to decrease. Even so, the residents have not been able to return to their homes because the water is still flooding their homes. The community must remain vigilant in case the river water overflows again.

Human Initiative Distributes Aid for People Affected by Palangka Raya Flood

This time, the Human Initiative contributed to helping collaborate with the Student Executive Board (BEM) from Udayana University by providing assistance to those affected by the flood.

The Coordinator of the Central Kalimantan Human Initiative Volunteer, Rahmat Hamdani, said that the assistance provided was in the form of 61 food packages containing basic food ingredients such as soy sauce, rice, flour, sugar, and oil.

Rahmat said that the distribution of the 61 packages are focused on Bereng Benkel Village. By providing this assistance, it is hoped that this assistance can help relieve those affected. Local residents are also grateful hoping that the assistance will help and provide benefits.

Initiator Friends, let’s together reduce the burden of our brothers and sisters in Kalimantan by praying for their safety. You can also take part in this collaboration by donating some of your wealth for those affected through Solusi Peduli.

Hopefully this good step has a good impact on those affected and for all of us.
