Healthy Lifestyle: The Ideal Dish Portions

It’s important to stay healthy, especially during a pandemic like today. One way to keep the body healthy is to eat a balanced diet. Our body needs a variety of nutrients in accordance with the portion of its needs without losing any nutrients in the body.

Daily nutritional needs must still be met by always consuming nutritious and balanced intake to avoid various kinds of diseases. Several foods need to be consumed together in order to still get different types of nutrients each day.

Ideal Dish Portion Guide in accordance with the Guidelines of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia

Staple Foods: Various types of carbohydrates can be obtained from various foods, such as rice. It is recommended to consume approximately 150-grams or the equivalent of 3 scoops of rice. However, if you choose to eat potatoes, the recommended size is 300-grams or the equivalent of 3 potatoes.

Side Dishes: After the staple food, the side dishes are also important to get a balanced diet consisting of vegetable and animal protein. The recommended size for vegetable protein in one plate, is approximately 50-grams of tempeh or 100-grams of tofu. As for animal protein, you can consume 70 grams of beef, or the equivalent of 75 grams of mackerel and 80 grams of skinless chicken.

Vegetables: Sources of vitamins and minerals that later act as antioxidants are contained in many vegetables. Therefore, it is important to include various types of vegetables in the contents of our plates. At least, consume 1 cup or the equivalent of 150-gram vegetables every day.

Fruits: Apart from vegetables, fruits and vegetables contain vitamins and minerals. There are many benefits of fruit for body health, such as preventing cancer, hypertension, liver damage, etc. Balanced nutrition guidelines for fruit consumption include 50–150-grams daily.

Complementary Nutrition: In addition to filling your plate with the nutrients your body needs, it’s also important to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Consumption of milk, olive oil and other complementary intakes to support body functions in prime condition.
