Helping the Establishment of Qur’an Learning Center (TPA) for Children in the Remote Areas

Watan Pao, Bloto Village is one of 21 villages with the largest Muslim population in East Adonara sub district, East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia. However, this village still lacks of Qur’an Learning Center (TPA).

As a village with the most Muslim population, over time, people in the village start to study religion and convert to Islam.

However, this condition is not supported by good learning facilities. The facilities still do not support the learning process so that it can be carried out properly. The distance between Muslim schools in East Adonara has forced children to attend schools in the nearest area, which incidentally is non-Muslim.

Less religious lessons, making them have to study outside of school, such as by studying religion at the Village Mosque. Al-Hidayah Mosque is the only largest mosque in the Watan Pao area, Bloto Village, East Adonara sub district, East Nusa Tenggara. There is no special room for 32 students who study every day from after Asr until Maghrib.

The mosque, which was once small, is slowly expanded because it is no longer adequate to accommodate the pilgrims. Now, the construction has not been completed, because of limited funds.

The mosque ongoing contruction still needs a large additional cost. Meanwhile, the location of the village and the remote access road has increased the cost of building the mosque.

Not only development needs to support religious learning and the construction of the Al-Qur’an Learning Center (TPA), they also need various recitation equipment such as the Qur’an, Iqra books, stationery and other supporting equipment.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “When the son of Adam (man) dies, then all his deeds are cut off from three things (namely): charity, useful knowledge and pious children who pray for him.”
