Ikhsan, Young Quran Memorizer, The Nation’s Hope

2 November 2021

Indonesia is a country with the largest Muslim population in the world. Of the 263 million people in Indonesia, about 229 million are Muslims. Unfortunately, among many Muslims, only 30 thousand people have memorized the Qur’an.

Lack of religious awareness is one of the reasons why only few Muslims can memorize the Qur’an in this country. For this reason, it requires a supportive environment to teach the nation’s generation about the importance of knowledge and practice of religious values. This can be taught through formal educational institutions, namely schools, the smallest unit of society, namely the family and other scientific associations in the community. The establishment of Al-Qur’an Education Center in the area is one form of instilling religious values in early childhood.

Ikhsan, Young Quran Memorizer, the Nation’s Hope

Introducing Ikhsan, one of the children who are struggling to memorize the God’s verses. The student at the Al-Quran Al-Islam Education School in Magelang is the youngest of four siblings. He began his long journey of memorizing Quran since he was in the first grade of elementary school. Now, when he is 9 years old, he has memorized Surah Al Mutafifin (Cheating People) which has 25 verses.

The student of Tia C. Safira came to the Quran School in the afternoon since 15.00 o clock and then returned home at 19.00 o’ clock before the prayer call. Although he regularly recites the Koran, Ikhsan admits that he does not have a single Qur’an. So far, he has borrowed the Qur’an from the school in turn with his other friends.

The boy who attended Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al Ittihat dreams of becoming a police officer. Like children in general, Fikri likes to play football and hide and seek with his friends. His favorite food is fried eggs.
Ikhsan’s father is a hard worker, he works as a handyman who every day from morning to evening works to build and repair people’s houses. Meanwhile, her mother is busy with household chores.
Ikhsan looked happy when he received gifts in the form of the Holy Qur’an from Initiator Friends. He was grateful, with the Qur’an he was able to recite at home. Thank you Initiator Friends for the good and sincere intentions and deeds. For other Initiator Friends who also want to participate, please visit Solusi Peduli. Hopefully Fikri will become the hope of this nation and continue to be passionate about pursuing his dream of becoming a police officer without forgetting his religious values.

Go Ikhsan!
