1 February 2021

Initiator Friends, as of today Tuesday (26/1) the Ministry of Health reveals that the positive cases of the corona virus (Covid-19) have increased by 13,094 people. This has made the total positive cases in Indonesia reach 1,012,350 people.

Of these numbers, 820,356 people were recovered (an increase of 10,868), and 28,468 others died (an increase of 336). So out of every 4 Covid-19 tests, 1 positive case is found. Indonesia Becomes the First Country in ASEAN to Record 1 Million Covid-19 Cases.

Indonesia has joined 18 other countries to have 1 million Covid-19 cases. Sadly, these 1 million cases were reached when Covid-19 has become increasingly out of control. For information, this deadly disease has spread to 510 regencies / cities in 34 provinces. The government is still monitoring 82,156 people with suspected Covid-19 status. Based on statistical data from the Johns Hopkins University Medical School, Indonesia’s Covid-19 case is now ranked 19th in the world.

Citing an article published by Reuters on Tuesday, the figures are among the highest in Asia. However, health experts believe the spread of Covid-19 in the country is likely to be much worse.

Reisa Broto Asmoro, spokesperson for the Covid-19 Task Force, said 80 percent of people infected by the virus have fully recovered. The government has implemented a Covid-19 vaccination program and implemented restrictions on community activities (PPKM) earlier this month because hospital capacity is decreasing.

In addition, the Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi G. Sadikin also commented on this case. According to him, this should be a moment of sorrow for all Indonesian people. The COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia is still happening and many people have become the victims.

“This is the time for us to mourn because there are many of our relatives who have died. There are also more than 600 health workers who have died because of this pandemic. Perhaps, some of our close family and close friends have also left us, there is a deep grief from the government, of all Indonesian people, on this figure, “said Minister of Health Budi in a press conference broadcast on the Youtube channel of the Presidential Secretariat on Tuesday (26/1/2021).

Minister of Health Budi again reminded the public and the government to work together to overcome the pandemic. It is not only one element that is expected to work to curb the rate of the spread of the Corona COVID-19 virus.
Initiator Friends, let us for a moment pray for our brothers and sisters who are fighting against the corona virus in this difficult time. Of course we have many hopes to jointly reduce the wider impact of the virus by maintaining health protocols and complying with them as recommended by the government.
