The resolution of the Covid-19 pandemic cannot be done by the government alone. It needs the role and collaboration of various parties, including the people.

Oxygen for Indonesia is a movement that invites start-up activists, corporations and all levels of Indonesian society to raise funds together. Then, managing these funds is to save millions of lives from the threat of the Covid-19 pandemic. This movement provides access to the oxygen concentrator that is currently urgently needed by hospitals.

Oxygen for Indonesia has now raised more than Rp. 24 billion in donations. This movement itself is a movement initiated by start-up activists, local and regional venture capital companies.

Pre-existing movements such as wargabantuwarga.com, volunteer-based covid sites and hotlines. Also Indonesia PASTI BISA, a collaborative movement by East Ventures to fight the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia, has also joined forces for the same purpose.

Local and regional venture capital companies that have joined include East Ventures, Sequoia India, Intudo Ventures. There are also Goventures, Golden Gate Ventures, AC Ventures, Jugle Ventures, Asia Partners, Monk’s Hill Ventures, Open Space Ventures, and SMDV. The participating startup companies are Kitabisa, Opportunity, Mapan, BukuWarung, Halodoc, TokoCrypto, Payfazz, Adovotics, eFishery, Waresix, YCombinator, KAYA.ID, Bibit, Flip, Bonza and Investree.

This movement received a positive response from various parties, including appreciation from the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Budi Gunadi Sadikin. Budi appreciates the initiative of the youth to hold a mutual cooperation movement like this.

“Our very high appreciation, representing the Indonesian government to the extraordinary Oxygen for Indonesia Movement. Especially in collecting participation and donations from the wider community with a target number of up to 10 million US dollars. This movement (including Indonesia PASTI BISA Jaga Oksigen) has brought in 2,500 oxygen concentrators in stages until last August 16,” said Indonesian Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin.

This time, the Oxygen for Indonesia Movement again won the Humanity Contribution Category in the Covid-19 Response at the Humanity Award 2021 which took place at the Java Ballroom, Millennium Sirih Hotel, Jakarta, last Wednesday.
