Being a mother and father at the same time is not an easy thing. But no matter how difficult life we live, we will definitely get through it. This is what Bu Wahyuningsih, a single parent with two children, has been holding on to. Since her husband died, Mrs. Wahyu became the head of the family. She must go to earn a living to meet the needs as well as give attention and love and education for her children.

Challenge of Mrs. Wahyuningsih

The two roles are certainly not always easy for her to live. Her daily work in a stingy factory makes her sometimes come home so exhausted that she doesn’t have time to help her son repeat school lessons at home.

She has to leave her children in the evening because she gets evening shift at the factory whereas it is the time for her and her children to be sleeping and soending time together. Her youngest child (9 years old) often cries when she has to work the night shift from 10 pm to 6 am. It is really hard for her to leave them too, but she is doing this all for the sake of his children too.

Even though they are still young, Bu Wahyu’s two children are very independent and reliable. Knowing their mother has to go out to earn a living, they take the initiative to do housework from washing to cleaning on an initiative.

The feeling of being a single parent for Mrs. Wahyu is a feeling that she cannot express in words, it is mixed because sometimes she is happy, sometimes she is sad.

She is also often touched by the behavior of her young children.

“Mom, when I grow up, I want to make mom happy”

Those were the words of the little angels sent by God to which Mrs. Wahyu always answered with motivation and enthusiasm for them to study hard so that they could finally achieve their goals and make their mother happy.

When asked about the message for tough women, other single parents, she answered:

“Alone does not mean we are weak. We must remain enthusiastic and strong for the sake of the children we raise,” she said firmly.

May all goodness, blessings, and health, always flow to parents, especially mothers.
